accelerateme.co.uk with the Leicester Mercury

I have just entered Full Fat Designs into the running of the accelerateme scheme running alongside local newspapers. The Leicester Mercury and The Harborough Mail are two local papers that I have been long readers of, for both news and to gather company information.

Selected businesses can win free advertising and mentoring from marketing and training experts, with the overall winner getting a years worth of personal mentoring and support from Dragons' Den Judge Deborah Meaden.

Either of these prizes would be a great boost for any small business, I am hoping Full Fat Designs does well.

Visiting Small Businesses

Today will be a spent by visiting and phoning small businesses who will hopefully require some graphic or web design. Desford in Leicestershire is my target area today as it is local to the office in Newtown Unthank. By selecting an area each day I plan to visit most areas of Leicestershire to spread the word about Full Fat Designs, and the services offered.

Phoning can get you results, but I find you can often get through to the wrong person and if you catch them during a busy spell, or while they have an important deadline to meet, your message can be missed. So armed with the recent flyers, I find visiting the places and leaving the details, followed by a phone call a week later a much better approach.

Overall I will try to maintain positive throughout the initial client building exercise as I know that its a hard struggle to get people interested in your new business, but with the design quality and services offered I'm sure people will start to hear about Full Fat Designs.

Flyers back from the printers

The first piece of promotional material for Full Fat Designs is back from the printers.

Designed as a bar of chocolate with a bite taken out of it, we are hoping it has two effects, to be memorable and inspirational. On the back are the two start-up packages we do along with a list of some of our main services.

All we have to do now is deliver them to small businesses in the Leicester area.

New workspace

My new workspace in the Leicester office consists of a new monitor bought on a couple of good reviews. The HP ZR24w seems to be sharp, colourfull and so far accurate to what I'm printing. Okay, its not as true as the NEC spectraview, but at halk the price, its a great monitor to start with. It also means my Samsung can make a dignified retirement to the secondary monitor position.
